London, December 5, 2005 - Photographer John Palmer of the United States was awarded the 2006 Black and White Spider Awards First Place for "Outstanding Achievement" in the Fine Art category at a distinguished live online awards ceremony, which was attended by 10,000 viewers. The event was organized by the Black and White Spider Awards to honor excellence in black and white photography.
Thousands of images were received from over forty countries. The nominated photographers were selected by a who's who Judging Panel from the international photography community, including Magnum Photos (New York), Sotheby's Photograph Department (New York), Tate Gallery (London), Black and White Magazine, Communications Arts Magazine, Photo District News, the Man Ray Trust, and 20 plus more… The Panel reviewed the images online over a four-week period, and John Palmer's Sinan Road - 2 am, Shanghai, an exceptional image entered in the Fine Art category, received the most votes overall.
