Chong Sween sits with his sister inside their one-room home on Nanchang Road in Shanghai in 2001. Their parents had died years earlier, but when they were alive, all four family members lived together in this single room, sharing the same limited space for sleeping, eating, and daily life.

The room bears the traces of long habitation: layered furniture, stored belongings, and objects accumulated over decades. The photograph records not only two siblings, but a domestic interior shaped by family continuity, loss, and endurance within Shanghai’s older residential housing.
